VDI Insights: Murph’s WHY

Today, I want to talk about my personal life. It's easy for someone to come on, hoot and holler, and tell you all the things you need to think about for yourself. The words you need to use for yourself. The stories you need to tell yourself, and how you need to get over the fear and jump.

I get that.

I want to talk a little bit about my personal "why", because you need to know who's talking to you. You need to know more about me. You need to know my story. And in the beginning of this podcast, I just think it's important that we get to know each other.

So I'm going to go a little bit deeper today on the VDI Insights, and I'm going to share my “why.”

Part of the reason that I think it's so important to share my “why” with you is that it's something that I've had to find within myself. And it's a journey.

If you're just getting started, just like we're getting started on this podcast, and you're just getting started as a real estate investor, you're on a journey. The same journey that I've been on for quite a while. But I've also been on a journey of self-discovery, a journey of growth, and all that comes down to trying to find who you really are.

I have a website, it's called TimKMurphy.com. It's not for everyone. It's more for myself because when I tell you that the words you tell yourself will create the world that you live in and will allow you to see the world differently, just like I started seeing the world differently. When I believe that positive things happen to positive people, that's why I created the TimKMurphy.com webpage, because when I started to create my story, I had a place to go in case I was ever lost.

I once wrote something which I'm going to share with you. I was deep in self-discovery and I was writing a letter to a buddy of mine and it just came out. One day it just popped.

And so some of the key things that I wrote down are:

  • I'm driven by a passion and conviction to help others create a self-image worth fighting for.

  • I believe in fighting for a cause and gathering those who are best suited for the fight.

  • I'm a conscious capitalist who seeks dreamers, determination, and fortitude.

  • I surround myself with philanthropy.

I have been seeking this mission my entire life. Now it has found me. My three-year-old daughter has type one diabetes, and this has changed everything for me. And you guys can check that out at TeamSugarShay.com.

And then I wrote this. Now I must tell my story because I believe I have a vision, a passion, a story I can deliver with my heart and everything I have. I know when I tell my story to the world, it will make an impact. It will provide hope and change people's lives.

One person can make a difference with the help of others.

Again, I want to remind you this isn't a sales pitch. This is something that I literally wrote down when I was inspired. And when you're looking for your "why", when you're searching for your words, I can tell you this. If your experience is going to be anything like mine, it's just going to come out. Write it down. It reminds me of all the reasons why we are creating the Value Driven Investor Podcast. We're on a journey together. And the more that we can get to know each other, the more that we can trust each other, because maybe one day down the road, there's going to be an opportunity that we both want to take advantage of. And, you can't partner with someone you can't trust.
