VDI Insights: Wake Up Real Estate Agents! There's a Better Way
Listen:
-Tim Murphy
Wake up real estate agents!
There's a better way.
Literally, that’s what is going through my head after being a part of a mastermind group.
The topic: Where is the market going for real estate agents?
How are ibuyers coming into the mix?
How is Black Rock and Open Door coming into the mix?
How is the real estate environment changing as a whole with Zillow?
I can tell you this, real estate agents are getting nervous.
I'm not getting nervous because I don't look at myself as a real estate agent. That's not my gig.
I'm a Value Driven Investor.
I'm a real estate investor that has a real estate license.
Now, for my past clients, I would love to keep working with you, help you sell your house, buy a house, or buy investment property. I will always be here to help.
That's not the point of this Insight.
This Value Driven Investor Insight is for all my fellow licensed real estate agents out there trying to do what you do best right now, which is service homeowners who want to sell their property or service buyers who want to buy a property.
I know you're sweating. People are getting nervous and they have every right to get nervous because our industry truly is changing. And that's all the more reason why the Value Driven Investor is positioned for you.
There's a different way. There's a better way.
Being a Value Driven Investor means building a business, a business that allows you to find an asset, improve and increase the value of that asset, and then sell it for a profit, or hold onto it for cashflow.
That's what the Value Driven Investor community is about.
A better way.
That's why I’m on today for this VDI Insight, because what do I think?
I believe real estate agents need to make a stand.
I believe anybody with a real estate license needs to make a stand and say, why do we have to give our industry over to the big conglomerates?
Why do we have to give our industry over to the tech companies or Hedge Funds like Black Rock?
Yeah, right now, today they're only taking up a small percentage of our market share…
What about 10-20 years from now?
Look at what Zillow has done.
They said the same thing about Amazon when they were only selling books on Google out of a garage.
They said the same thing about Zillow when Zillow was just getting started as some rinky-dink website.
Open Door & Black Rock have the same plan.
So where does that leave us — real estate agents?
Just like in the crypto industry, there's a revolution. I'm invested in crypto. I'm a big believer in crypto currency. I believe it is the people's money.
Well, I don't think real estate is that much different. Because real estate agents set out to take care of the people. Then came Zillow, Open Door, iBuyer, and this technology disruption.
It's all slowly chipping away at removing the real estate agent from the equation.
So what's left. Where do you go?
What do you do?
Well, the one thing I'm a big believer in is that the real estate agent will always have an upper hand when it comes to the war between the real estate agent and technology.
Or real estate agents vs. the big conglomerates.
When it comes to understanding real estate transactions, advising their clients, adding profit to the bottom line for their clients and really trying to take care of their people, a good real estate agent wins every time.
I don't believe the big conglomerates should take over. I don't believe it's best for the consumer.
Sure. It might be easiest, it might be frictionless, it might be convenient.
But is it going to truly be best for you?
The person who owns a home and wants to sell.
The person renting and wants to buy a house, I just don't know, but time will tell.
It's going to play out either way.
What's the point?
How does the Value Driven Investor fit into the equation?
We're sitting here preaching you should get your real estate license, but yet in the same breath we are telling you the real estate industry is changing.
There's a civil war. There's a paradigm shift happening.
You are probably asking yourself… Why should I get my real estate license?
Because if you're a licensed agent and you're doing your own transaction as a real estate investor, that's completely different than if you're a licensed agent and you're doing transactions for someone else.
Why?
As a Value Driven Investor, a licensed agent doing transactions for yourself, you can create a life on your terms.
Otherwise, you're working for someone else.
That's why you should get your real estate license. That's why you should start investing in real estate for yourself.
That's why you should join us in the Value Driven Investor community.
Because together we can fight back.
We can make a stand.
We can still help people create value in their home and sell it for top dollar.
We can still help the people whom we have relationships with.
If they want to sell their house to us in “as-is” condition, we'll buy it.
If they want us to help them fix their property up and reap maximum value, then we'll help them do that.
If they already have a fantastic property and they just want to sell it and they want it done as easy and as quickly as possible, we can do that!
Because as real estate agents, as people who live in our communities and who care about our people, we always have the upper hand when it comes to the conglomerate or technology disruption.
We have the upper hand because we always have the relationship and inside the relationship is trust.
That trust is what people want to invest in.
That trust is what people want to believe in.
I truly believe we must unite together because if we stay separated, the conglomerates or technology will win.
But if we unite together and we fight back!
I really believe we have a shot to change an industry, to make it better, to deliver the frictionless transaction customer want and the conglomerates are promising.
I'm super passionate about this!!
I can see it.
I can feel it.
The tidal wave of Change is upon us.
The question is, as a real estate agent, what do we do about it?
Becoming a Value Driven Investor is what we do about it.
